Care and preservation of an important local history collection of archival materials and artefacts forms another of SWACS’ main responsibilities. These consist of a large photographic collection (which is currently closed as it is undergoing digitisation) plus manuscript materials (also currently closed) and artefacts relating to the Caves, Castle, local schools, industries, natural history and general locale. Displays include domestic, educational, and industrial artefacts, geological and zoological specimens, and an array of photographs reflecting the rich diversity of the area.

The collections are housed at our Museum and Visitor Centre in The Terras Hall, The Haugh, East Wemyss KY1 4SB. This is currently open on Sundays in summer between 1:30pm and 5pm.

School visits
