Our new Visitor Centre in the village of East Wemyss is normally open every Sunday between 1:30pm and 4pm from April to September. The guided tours depart at 2pm and 2:30pm.
The Tour
Advance booking for the tour is essential as numbers are strictly limited due to ongoing restrictions.
This is a coastal landscape with some uneven ground and includes many steps. A full tour to the caves and back is one mile long and usually lasts around an hour and a half. If you might find this a problem, please let us know in advance and we can arrange a shorter tour for you. Please bring suitable footwear and clothing.
The Museum
You are very welcome to spend time looking round our Museum, housed in the Visitor Centre, without taking the guided tour. We even have a Virtual Reality installation which provides a fully immersive experience of visiting the caves without leaving the building.
As well as telling the story of the caves, the Museum has displays and information on local geology and history, including later industries based in the village like mining and textiles.
Refreshments and toilet facilities are available in our seated cafe area.
Parking
Please note that there is no on-site parking in The Haugh, which is a cul-de-sac and highly unsuitable for visitor traffic. Please park instead in the public areas on Main Street or Back Dykes, from where it is a three minute walk to the Visitor Centre. We can however arrange disabled parking at the Visitor Centre on request.
