Members of the Wemyss Caves Working Group met with representatives of the team from Northlight Heritage who have been commissioned to formulate the Conservation Management Plan (CMP) for the caves.
Northlight will undertake a baseline audit of the caves and their carvings and make an assessment of their cultural significance.
The CMP will take into account any issues of vulnerability and discuss the conservation aims and guiding principles for the site, resulting in detailed recommendations for its future protection, monitoring and management. We see this as a crucial step towards the fulfilment of our long-term ambitions for the caves.
