The Martin Stane stands in a field near Tealing on the northern outskirts of Dundee, Scotland. According to local legend, Martin was in love with a girl, one of nine sisters killed by a dragon. Martin killed the dragon by beating its head with a hammer on this very stone! More prosaically it is a Class II Pictish symbol stone dating from c. 7th century AD. Art by Marianna Lines.
