Our archaeologist friends from SCAPE (Scottish Coastal Archaeology and the Problem of Erosion) have been onsite to collect some aerial data to contribute to our ongoing monitoring of the Wemyss Caves area. This is done on an annual basis to help us track changes and alert us to any developing problems. This part of the operation involved relocating the survey points on the ground, making them visible to the drone that is then flown above. The data can then be compared directly with that collected in previous years. Our SWACS volunteers will be out in a couple of weeks’ time to undertake all the groundwork – the detailed recording and photographs – needed for the completion of this year’s monitoring exercise.
