Photographically illustrated book recording memories of the scenic and historic village of East Wemyss, compiled by the people dedicated to the preservation of the local environment and historic monuments.
Features significant buildings, such as the old church of St Mary’s-by-the Sea, and famous local people such as musician Sir Jimmy Shand and artist William Gear, along with the less well known people of significance to the area.
Recalls an old brewery and bottling works and a once extensive linen works, how increased coal mining led to the expansion of the village, and how these traditional industries are still very much part of the collective memory.
Includes early maps of the vicinity and the Wemyss Caves site.
