Photographically illustrated biography of East Wemyss-born accordionist Sir James (aka ‘Jimmy’) Shand, written with great affection by his childhood friend and neighbour, local historian Alex Darwood.

The book records this talented musician’s life story from boyhood to becoming a miner at 14 years of age, undertaking a series of manual jobs while honing his musical skills before an appointment as a demonstrator in a Dundee musical instrument shop and steady rise to the world stage.

Includes a tribute from Jimmy Shand junior, a dedicatory poem by Bill Barker, and chronological list of Shand’s life and achievements.
