Guided tours from April to October

Can you help SWACS?

Can you help SWACS?

You are cordially invited to join us on Sunday, 12 March 2017, at the Senior Citizens Centre, Main Road, East Wemyss, KY1 4RQ, for what we hope will be an interesting afternoon, specially devised for members and friends interested in getting more involved with the society.

You can drop in from any time between 1.30pm and 4.30pm.

SWACS Environmental and Education Centre, East Wemyss Primary School, KY1 4RN, will also be open and parking space will be available in the yard. Refreshments will be served throughout the afternoon in the Senior Citizen Club.

This invitation comes in response to the many requests from people wishing to become more active in the society. We appreciate that not all members can, and thank those who cannot participate for their continued support. If you cannot attend on the day but are keen to get involved at another time, do let us know.

The intention is to give you a better understanding of what SWACS does, including the various tasks and projects that enable us to pursue our long term aims of promoting and protecting the historically important caves and our archival and museum collections.

Whether or not you can come along on 12 March, if you think you would like to get involved with any of these tasks or projects and have any time to spare on a short, long term or occasional basis, please complete the volunteer survey. We’ll try to match skills, interests and time available with current and future requirements.

Things you can get involved with include:-

* Guiding (caves and Macduff’s Castle sites)
* Catering and hospitality (light refreshments)
* Archives and collections (indexing, cataloguing transcription, digital photography)
* Marketing (publications and souvenirs)
* Committee work (varied)
* Photographic surveys (caves and carvings, gravestones)
* Local & environmental history
* Landscape maintenance

Some, but by no means all, of the above require a level of fitness (e.g. guiding). Full training and support will be provided in all cases. Main requirements: enthusiasm, and willingness to share skills.

If you have no time available at present, but would like to be contacted at a later date, please let us know.
