We’re really proud to announce that the 4D Wemyss Caves website was shortlisted in the top three in the category of “Best Public Presentation of Archaeology” in the British Archaeological Awards 2018 last week.
These awards are the ‘Oscars’ of archaeology in the UK and although we didn’t win (that went to the London Mithraeum) we did come away with a “highly commended” certificate and have got great publicity and shown the caves to a new, wider audience.
The photo shows some of us from SWACS with the SCAPE Trust who coordinated the project receiving our certificates from Carenza Lewis of Time Team.
It’s a fantastic achievement for a group like ours to be able to compete on equal terms with global companies and fly the flag for Fife archaeology and local history at such a prestigious event. Huge thanks to everyone who played any part in the success.
