Special Open Day at the Wemyss Caves
We have digital archaeologists from York Archaeological Trust at the Wemyss Caves from Monday, 9 March, to Friday, 20 March, inclusive. They’re here to complete the data collection for the Visualization Project. The pilot project was carried out in Jonathan’s Cave in November 2013 resulting in the Wemyss Caves 4D
Castle, Caves & Coast Cleanup
SWACS in conjunction with friends will be doing a cleanup of the land surrounding MacDuff Castle, the Wemyss Caves and the general coastal area. This will take place on Saturday, 11th April from 10:00 until 13:00. All Welcome!

Conservation Management Plan
Members of the Wemyss Caves Working Group met with representatives of the team from Northlight Heritage who have been commissioned to formulate the Conservation Management Plan (CMP) for the caves. Northlight will undertake a baseline audit of the caves and their carvings and make an assessment of their cultural significance.
RTI – First Volunteer Session
SWACS made a start on capturing the Court Cave carvings as part of our Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) project. The weather was kind to us and volunteers came from St Andrews, Edinburgh and Glasgow to learn about this powerful photographic technique and to help out with both the data capture

Bad Weather causes further Erosion at Wemyss Caves Coastline
SWACS are extremely alarmed by the extent to which recent weather conditions have eroded the coastline upon where the caves are situated.
